Medical AI companies are organisations that sell, host, or build models for care — a flagged worklist, a storefront of other people’s algorithms, a probe with helpers, or a shop you hire to write the imaging piece. This page is those kinds, with named examples. It is not a ranked “top 2025” list. It is not a list of cleared devices.

If you meant named products that run on a scan or a signalartificial intelligence medical devices (290). Those two jobs can both stay: 290 is the device; this URL is who you are buying from. If you meant how to hire a SaMD shopmedical device software development companies (7505). If you meant what imaging AI does in a departmentartificial intelligence in radiology.

The old page ranked PYCAD #1 among “top medical AI companies.” That was an ad. PYCAD is a custom-build shop (web DICOM viewers, annotation → model deployment). It is not a foundation-model vendor, not a cleared triage SKU, and not a place on a leaderboard.

Four kinds, not seven ranks

Kind What you are actually buying Named examples (not a rank)
Cleared-product vendor A model (or a bundle) that lands on the worklist or pages a team. Assistive, almost always. The radiologist still signs Aidoc (always-on flags). Viz.ai (stroke / PE-style care coordination, not only a mark)
Storefront Someone else’s algorithms, delivered inside a workflow you already paid for. The storefront is procurement and plumbing, not the science Nuance Precision Imaging Network (Microsoft / PowerScribe). Sectra Amplifier. AWS Marketplace for Healthcare & Life Sciences (a catalogue, not one company)
Hardware + helper The probe or the cart is the product. The model is a measurement or a guidance overlay Butterfly Network (handheld semiconductor ultrasound). Caption Guidance-class echo coaches live on the devices list
Custom-build shop You hire them to annotate, train, and put a viewer or a model inside your app. No shared leaderboard. No “#1” PYCAD. Also the job 7505 describes in general (SaMD / SiMD vendors you hire)

Names change (acquisitions). The kind usually does not. A storefront that lists Aidoc is still a storefront. Aidoc on that shelf is still a product vendor.

How to read a “top companies” page

  • Who signs. If the answer is “the radiologist,” you are looking at assistive SaMD, not a replacement hire. Workforce is shortage of radiologists.
  • What is cleared, for what. A 510(k) is a claim, not a brand halo. Confirm intended use on the label, not the homepage carousel.
  • What you already run. Nuance PIN is cheap to try if you already live in PowerScribe. Sectra Amplifier is the same idea on a Sectra PACS. AWS Marketplace is a procurement path, not a clinical engine. None of those is “the best company.”
  • Vendor headcount and “1,200 centres.” Marketing. Dropped unless you can open the filing.

Transcription / Dragon alternatives and “AI for medical transcription” affiliates were outbound noise on the old page. Dropped.

What this page is not

  • Not 290 restated with a “companies” costume. 290 names products (LumineticsCore, Aidoc the device, Viz the device, Butterfly the probe). This page names the organisations and the job they sell.
  • Not 7505. That URL is how to pick a shop that will build SaMD. Overlap with the last row only.
  • Not a 2025 ranking, a feature-comparison scorecard, or PYCAD as item one. The comparison table that scored “PYCAD vs traditional consultants” was an ad. Dropped.
  • Not a foundation-model vendor list (Merlin / RADAR are papers on other URLs).

If the missing piece is a viewer or a model that has to live next to one of these, that is the imaging piece — a hire, not a rank. Case studies.

We build custom medical imaging platforms — advanced DICOM viewers, AI segmentation, and the clinical systems around them.
